A few thoughts by Debbie Maulsby
In the honor of full disclosure – I confess to you that I am not now, nor ever have been, a single mom.
I have not lost a husband through death or divorce, and I could not begin to comprehend the loss and loneliness it would bring about. I am in awe of those who have suffered such a loss, and come out on the other side of it whole and healed.
But – I AM a woman.
A woman who has had her share of emotional rollercoaster rides – ones I didn’t get on, of my own free will – I was dragged kicking and screaming, buckled into that seat, ticket ripped from my clenched fist, and forced to ride something I never wanted to be on in the first place.
And, as much as I hate them, I don’t believe there is any way to make it through our lives as daughters, wives, ex-wives, moms or step-moms, without spending some time on emotional rollercoasters.
At theme parks, I’m the first one to volunteer to hold drinks, and stay with the baby in the stroller, so that everyone else can sit in seats that click slowly up a hill, only to drop off the side of the earth with screams echoing in the air. No thank you – I like my feet planted firmly on the ground.
I think that is the part I like the least – that top of the hill drop-off where we catch some air, and there is no part of us connected to anything solid. That centrifugal force that disconnects us from our seats… or reason… or good answers.
What I want you to know is – Pam Kanaly understands. You – your emotions – your pain…she knows them because she lived them.
You might be in the middle of a forced ride right now – so listen carefully to her…
“Some things fall apart so that better things can fall together.”
Pam Kanaly – “The Single Mom and Her Rollercoaster Emotions”
And while her new book was written to come alongside the single mom as she maneuvers her way through the obstacles of a broken life– I believe this book is written for all women.
As Pam shares her own story – you will see Jesus. When you read the testimonies of women with heart-breaking struggles – you will see Jesus.
Yes, these are stories of single moms, but they are every woman’s pain or heartbreak. Each page I read had a life principle leaping off of it that I could use in my own married life – in my own journey towards wholeness in Christ.
Which of us has not had our dreams dashed, or our futures questioned? All of us have found ourselves on the receiving end of unspeakable pain or fear.
I know of no woman, single or married, who has not been on her knees before God asking, “How could this happen? This is not what I had planned. What now?”
“Fear causes spiritual amnesia by causing us to forget what God has done in the past.”
So, to all women, everywhere…
Please order this book. Please read this book. Please underline, and highlight, and memorize parts of this book.
Pam will lead you in footsteps she has already walked and found to be trustworthy.
Allow her practical principles to settle into your daily life. Permit His Holy Truth to establish deep into your crippling fears and worst regrets. Take His hand as He offers it to help you off of that rollercoaster.
“The Single Mom and Her Rollercoaster Emotions” is an honest unveiling of how the Lord changed Pam… and held her, healed her and used her… and He will do the same for us.
His hand is sufficient…it is protective…
He renews…He heals…He restores…He rebuilds.
He is continuously speaking His love into our hearts.
Begin reading this book, and listen as He uses Pam’s story to reveal His devotion to you and His plans for you.
Do not despair – there is Hope.
Because there is a Way off the rollercoaster – and back on to solid ground.
There is a Way to let go – and still be held.
There is a Way to be single – but not be alone.
And that Way whispers your name.
